Are you passionate about speech technologies, machine learning, and cutting-edge AI research? At Phonexia, we're looking for a skilled Researcher to push the boundaries of what's possible in voice processing. You'll work with state-of-the-art models, conduct experiments, and contribute to innovations that make an impact. Your Role

As a Researcher, you will mainly focus on:

Technology Transfer

Work with open-source models (e.g., emotion detection, deepfakes), analyze code, modify and fine-tune models.

Research & Experimentation

Read scientific papers, experiment with the latest innovations, design and conduct experiments, evaluate models using metrics like WER and EER.

Development & Optimization

Improve and maintain training pipelines, optimize scripts (Python) for reproducibility and efficiency.

Knowledge Sharing & Mentorship

Guide junior researchers, conduct code reviews, support continuous learning both within and outside the team and visit external conferences.

Skills You Need

• Machine Learning & Deep Learning
  Experience with training neural networks, transformer-based architectures, and self-supervised learning.
• Programming
  Strong Python skills (PyTorch), basic Bash scripting.
• Research & Critical Thinking
  Ability to analyze scientific papers, extract insights, and apply findings to real-world problems.
• Speech Processing Knowledge
  Familiarity with automatic speech recognition (ASR), speaker identification (SID), speech-to-text (STT), large language models (LLM), or related technologies is beneficial.
• Self-Management & Collaboration
  Ability to lead research tasks independently from design to completion with attention to detail. Active participation in task distribution within a self-organized team and supporting junior colleagues.
• Languages
  Fluency in English and at least a basic knowledge of Czech, as both languages will be used daily.

What Makes This Role Unique?

You'll be part of a 7-member research team with a mix of senior and junior researchers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across experience levels.

This role offers a unique combination of theoretical research and practical application. You'll be reading and analyzing research papers while tackling real-world challenges and product requirements. You’ll have the freedom to choose your own experiments and tools, allowing for a high degree of innovation.

Continuous learning is at the core of this role, with opportunities to collaborate with FIT BUT and participate in educational and grant projects. You’ll also engage with the broader research community through conferences and workshops, supported by a dedicated education budget for your professional growth.

We do not offer fully remote cooperation at this time. We value teamwork, and we believe that team spirit arises from personal interactions. Therefore, would like you to work from our offices in Brno-Královo Pole at least 2 days per week.
